Code of Conduct
At Niels Brock Copenhagen Business College (NBCBC), we strive to create a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Our Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and standards for behaviour to ensure a productive and supportive atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors.
Study Rules
NBCBC's study rules outline your responsibilities in relation to your education, including attendance and active participation in classes.
Here, you can find a detailed description of the rules and procedures regarding absence and lack of academic integrity:
- You must actively participate in all classes, whether they take place on or off college premises, including project work, virtual activities, excursions, or similar.
- You must submit your written assignments on time – and you must not cheat or engage in any form of misconduct. Your assignments must meet the quality and quantity standards set for them.
- If you fall behind on submissions, your tutor or student counsellor may require you to attend a mandatory workshop to catch up. Failure to attend the mandatory workshop is counted as an absence. Your tutors will monitor your progress with assignments, and this is factored into the assessment of whether you meet the college's requirements of being considered "study active". Tutors will inform you of the expected workload when assignments are distributed.
- If you are unsure whether something constitutes cheating, always ask your tutor.
- NBCBC defines cheating as:
-
- Submitting an assignment that is entirely or partly copied from someone else or translated by a machine such as Google Translate.
- Plagiarising or copying another student’s work and submitting it as your own.
- Sharing your work with other students.
- Being aware that classmates are plagiarising or copying your work and submitting it as their own.
- Copying from sources without proper citation. For shorter sections, the tutor will assess the extent of the violation, but at a minimum, it will negatively affect your grade.
- Using AI text generators such as ChatGPT to complete assignments.
You are required to participate in mock exams, yearly exams, and other internal tests unless you have a valid reason for not attending.
Cheating during exams or other tests is a violation of the study and conduct rules and may result in sanctions.
Actively Studying
Actively studying means attending classes on time, submitting your assignments punctually, and coming prepared so you can actively contribute to lessons.
It also includes various factors that are essential for getting the most out of your education – such as contributing to the social and academic wellbeing of the college.
We expect you to be an active student and to attend classes and other mandatory activities.
Guidelines for Behaviour and Expectations
The Code of Conduct addresses behaviour and interaction during classes, both on and off NBCBC's premises. It also covers your behaviour outside NBCBC if it negatively impacts the learning environment or your interactions with others at campus.
At NBCBC, everyone is expected to behave responsibly, and we all share a duty to maintain good order and positive interactions. Relationships should be respectful – both among students and between students and staff. You must follow specific instructions, whether they are given verbally or in writing.
At NBCBC, we:
- Speak politely, appropriately, and respectfully to and about one another.
- Show respect through our behaviour for the college, its students, and staff, recognising that the college is a workplace where disruptive behaviour is unacceptable.
- Take care of the college’s physical resources, premises, furniture, facilities, and communal areas, both indoors and outdoors.
- Clean up after ourselves and sort waste into the correct bins.
- Dress as we choose but consider whether our clothing may be inappropriate or offensive to others.
- Do not tolerate violent or threatening behaviour.
- Do not tolerate smoking, drinking, possession, or sale of alcohol, tobacco products, or other substances on or near campus.
Social and academic relationships at NBCBC are characterised by a good tone, mutual respect, and tolerance. Therefore, no form of bullying is accepted – whether in person or online.
