AI Policy at Niels Brock
At Niels Brock, we see artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool with great potential – when used responsibly. That is why we have a clear AI policy that sets the direction for how AI may be used in teaching and administration. The use of AI must comply with current legislation, our rules, and our educational principles. Read more here.

Using AI in teaching
Teachers can include AI as a pedagogical tool if it benefits student learning and does not conflict with the Ministry of Education's (UVM) rules and recommendations and Niels Brock's code of conduct.
AI can be used in teaching according to the following principles and only when the teacher assesses that it makes academic, didactic and pedagogical sense:
- AI must always support the students' active learning process
- Explore the possibilities and limitations of the technology with students
- Talk to students about how, when and for what purpose they can use generative AI in each subject
- Organise teaching that encourages critically reflective use of the technology
- Organise written work and learning activities so that students learn to use generative AI to qualify their work process
- The use of AI should never create an uneven playing field for students
- Do not charge students for access to AI tools
- Students must adhere to the rules for exams and assignment writing so that assignments are completed by the student.
AI in teaching must also always be used:
- Comply with GDPR and copyright so that sensitive personal data and non-copyrighted text/images are never uploaded to AI tools
- Used when the teacher has given clear information to the students that AI can be used and what it can be used for
- Introduced and used with a learning-oriented approach
- Follow the rules and recommendations of the Ministry of Education as well as Niels Brock's current code of conduct.
Use of AI in the administration
Administrative employees can use AI tools where relevant and always where it can improve work processes and/or the quality of work. Of course, the use must comply with GDPR rules.
AI with an eye on the future
To ensure responsible and meaningful use of AI – both now and in the coming years – the following actions have been taken:
- Establishment of a cross-functional AI working group to follow developments in the use of AI technology in education
- Establishment of local AI groups in departments working on specific initiatives
- Competence development for all employees in the use of AI
- Focus on knowledge sharing and professional sparring between employees anchored around the subject group leaders and the PFK's/training managers.
The initiatives must contribute to strengthening teaching and increasing students' learning outcomes.
